Alannah Rose {wedding} ~ Renee & Nick ~ Love Light Chandelier Stationery

alannah rose weddings, weddings

I love chandeliers. My nan had them in her home and I remember being mesmerized by their beauty when I was a child. I’ve got a lovely Laura Ashley one in my entrance hall now, and of course our love light chandelier wedding invitation collection is one of my favourites.

So you can imagine my excitement when my gorgeous client Renee emailed through these pics of her wedding using the chandelier stationery we created for her. The venue! The chandeliers! The romance!

What a beautiful day. Details below xx

Renee and Nick were married at the stunning Verandahs, Terrara House Estate in NSW. They chose our stunning Love Light wedding invitations and stationery, which tied in beautifully with the setting of the venue and the theme of the day.

The weather for the day proved perfect for the outdoor ceremony, and the setting of Terrara Estate was breathtaking.

Renee chose two dresses, the first – a stunning gown by Mira Mandic (above) was worn for the ceremony.

The love light stationery by Alannah Rose carried through the theme at the reception and included place cards, seating chart and wine bottle labels. The wine was given to guests as a bonboniere gift.

“I loved my stationery as it really tied in with my theme for the wedding and brought everything together on the day”.says Renee

The beautiful reception was one of Renee’s favourite parts of the day; “…the pressure is off, it’s time to relax and enjoy what is happening around you and share your special day with your closest friends and family.”

“Use recommended , well known, trusted suppliers so you can relax on your day

and not have to worry whether things will go wrong. Have a theme and stick to

it and don’t try on too many wedding dresses as it becomes confusing and you

might end up choosing two like i did which wasn’t a cost efficient option!” says Renee of her tips for brides.

Congratulations Renee and Nick on a truly beautiful wedding day and thanks so much for sharing it with us. xx

When we asked our Facebook “likers” which of our invitations they liked best recently, our friend and stockist of Alannah Rose, Kathryn of Pink Frosting said “Paris” was definitely her favourite.

We love our Paris party invitation, it conjures up so many beautiful parties – today? a French inspired afternoon tea party. Wire replicas of the Eiffel tower gracing the tables, sweet raspberry macaroons, blooming peonies and of course- the finest of tea leaves drunk from our favourite tea pot!

Alannah Rose {wedding} ~ Sophie & Phil ~ Hollywood Nights Part 1

alannah rose weddings, weddings

Today’s wedding is the gorgeous black and white themed soiree of Sophie & Phil. It’s taken me a little time to get this one up on the blog due to the fact there are so many amazing pictures to choose from – I’ve decided I couldn’t decide on just a few – so enjoy – this is a big post!

Sophie and Phil were married in New Zealand on the 27th March this year, their black and white theme was complemented perfectly by our Hollywood Nights wedding invitations and stationery. Sophie has done an amazing job of writing up her thoughts on the day, so I’m using quite a few of her quotes for this post.

When I asked Sophie her number one tip for brides, she said

“Aim to be a bridechilla not a bridezilla – have fun, enjoy yourself and just get lost in the magic of the experience.“

I think the photos of the day sum this up perfectly – a couple and their friends, relaxed, happy and having fun on a truly magical day!

black and white wedding theme

“The girls got ready at my parents beautiful villa which my mum had decorated with fresh white lilies and sweet smelling white stock, white tulle, and large ornate mirrors for us to get ready in luxury. The bridesmaids wore black singlets with “bridesmaid” on the front, and I wore a white “soon to be mrs wong” singlet.” says Sophie

“I wore a beautiful sweetheart Martina Liana dupion silk dress. My dress was classic and elegant and without any embellishment – I wanted to save the “bling” for my earrings as I love decadent chandelier earrings. I fell in love with these Westwood earrings from Stephanie Browne when I saw them online and ordered them immediately.” says Sophie.

“Considering our black and white theme I was on the hunt for some funky black wedding shoes. I went to Mi Piaci and happened to try on a blue pair of shoes for sizing and they look absolutely stunning – the bright blue satin just popped. However, I was still a bit wary of getting them as I felt it didn’t really work in with my colour scheme but my husband to be said “its your something blue” and that was it – I was sold! They looked absolutely stunning with the dress, a bright blue flash in a sea of off white dupion silk and petticoat. They were definitely the talking point of the wedding and made for some fantastic photo opportunities – I have to thank my husband for his great fashion sense!” she laughs.

“Whilst the girls were getting ready, the boys warmed up with a little game of back yard cricket.”

black and white wedding theme

“My dad and I traveled to the wedding venue in an amazing white Excalibur Phaeton Sedan from Excalibur Cars.“

“I wanted my bouquet to be a little different so had a number of full orchid stems in trailing form with bridal white ribbon and pearl buttons.”

black and white wedding invitations

“Our ceremony and reception was held at Cassels, on the west coast of Auckland. The venue is European in style but is contrasted by the beautiful New Zealand native bush which serves as a backdrop. We choose the venue because it had three distinct gorgeous areas to hold the ceremony, drinks & canapés and the reception. The ceremony was held in the lower garden complete with fountain and an Italian belvedere. Canapes were served to guests after the ceremony in the courtyard surrounded by fern gardens, whilst a romantically lit ivy-covered entrance way led the way to the dining area where the reception was held”.

“Walking down the aisle with my Dad was such a special moment, he kept me calm and made me laugh. My beautiful mother joined us close to the altar area and we all walked arm in arm towards my husband to be. At that point I didn’t think I could get any happier until I saw Phil standing at the end of the aisle – such a wonderful combination of nerves, love, happiness, excitement and elation.”

“Our ceremony was beautiful, funny and emotional. One of our good friends, who is an amazing opera singer, sung Ava Maria, unaccompanied, whilst my Uncle read the Irish Blessing to us. Meanwhile my parents agreed to a “100 year lease” for me, instead of giving me away!”

black and white wedding theme

“For my two bridesmaids we choose a long simple elegant design – a grecian style dress in black from Nadia Couture in Ponsonby. We added the asymmetrical ruffled black strap to add a glamorous touch. The bridesmaids had their hair up with plenty of volume, long black earrings and dark nail polish. Both carried orchids in a posy style with black ribbon wrapped around the stem, secured by crystal pins and an orchid in their hair. My junior bridesmaid wore a shorter satin dress which we accessorized with an orchid wrist corsage in black ribbon and black and white parasol for her walk down the aisle whilst an orchid sat nestled into a braid in her hair.”

“The boys looked very handsome in pin striped suits. The grooms and groomsmen wore charcoal pinstriped suits with matching waist coats with grey ties and white shoes. The junior groomsmen wore classic black suits, whilst both fathers wore the same pinstriped suits with silver ties and black shoes.”

To be continued… – we’ll be back a bit later today with more gorgeous images. x

Alannah Rose Party – My Little Lala Turns Five – {bird} Party Inspiration

alannah rose parties, baby, parties

Last weekend my little girl turned 5, we celebrated with a pretty pink and red lala bird theme, based around our lala bird invitations. The lala bird invitations were named after Alannah, I call her lala for short, so it was only fitting that she should celebrate with the lala bird party theme.

I had such fun with this party, I never grow tired of red and pink together it’s such an unexpected but pretty combination, and I found that there are endless options of bird things that you can pick up from all over the place to help set the scene.

I kept the dessert table food to a theme of red, pink, chocolate, birds and hearts. Food included, cupcakes, gingerbread birds, sweets, candy kebabs, chocolate crackles, and heart shaped fairy bread.

As we had quite a few children at the party I also set up an area outside, this is where we served the hot food for lunch and played the party games.

The table centre piece was simply a handful of fallen branches that I collected, spray painted and placed in a vase, we then hung some lovely wooden birds from it that I found in Bed, Bath N Table, together with some crepe paper roses that I made.

bird party games, egg hunt game, egg hunt cups

All children love party games, and whilst we played some traditional favourites like pass the parcel, musical chairs and pinata, I wanted to also incorporate something on theme. I got the idea for these nifty little cups from the Eat Drink Chic blog, and thought they’d be great to use as ‘nests’ for the children to do an egg hunt. The child that found the most eggs got to choose a prize from the birdcage. (and of course they all got to keep their eggs).

The cups are super easy to make, simply buy plain paper cups, punch a hole either side at the top, insert ribbon and you’ve got a pretty little favour basket or candy cup.

Thirsty birds need drink: I love these pop top bottles (available at Safeway) they’ve got not artificial colours and flavours and they’re perfect for parties – it saves you time pouring drinks and eliminates spillages on the party table. I made the little labels to co-ordinate in with the rest of the stationery.

bird party bags, party bag tags, favour bag tags, bird gift tags

Sweet tweets: All little birds love a tweet (or treat) at the end of a party, I used our little lala bird party bag tags, and found these gorgeous little pink pegs on etsy here. Together with an assortment of lollies for the guests, each party bag also had a necklace gift ‘for pretty birds’ inside. The girls and I made these together, they’re simple and cost effective to make – just take a length of ribbon and thread some wooden beads onto it, tying a knot in between each bead – I then just slipped them into a cellophane bag.

My little lala bird loved her bird party, we’re already in discussions for the next one, and her little sister bells has put in a request for a new design for her party in July… stay tuned xx
